This classic 1970s film deals with the ethical lapses and career pressures of a group of small-time Baltimore defense attorneys and their forays into the grinding, often screeching, wheels of justice that sometimes lead to gross injustice. Al Pacino stars in this unsparing film where judges are both corrupt and insane, and where a defense attorney, such as Jeffrey Tambor (in his first film), can end up more loony than the character he portrayed on the critically-acclaimed TV show Arrested Development.
Joining us as post-screening guests we have—yes, you guessed it—the always interesting and hilarious Jeffrey Tambor, along with author and film critic Neal Gabler, whose face will be familiar to our audience from Sneak Previews and as a cultural commentator on a number of TV networks.
One side note: This film was written by Barry Levinson when he was a young screenwriter and hadn’t yet directed his first film. When Mr. Levinson appeared at the Film Festival last year for Sleepers, he mentioned … And Justice for All as another one of his law-related films.
… And Justice for All will be shown Thursday, Oct. 21, during the Fordham Law Film Festival. The festival runs Oct. 15-21, 2010.
